There is nothing hypothetical about this rich, dark cocktail that quickly became a favourite during the cold days of the winter (and somehow continues to be a favourite all year round). This drink combines Toasted Coconut Vodka, Rich Demerara Syrup, and Black Walnut Bitters to create a flavour reminiscent of a nice, rich coffee. This is an Old Fashioned style drink that you will want to sip in a dimly lit bar or next to a warm fireplace… can you feel that gravitational pull calling you to make this cocktail again and again?

2oz – Toasted Coconut Vodka
0.5oz – Rich Demerara Syrup
3 Dash – Black Walnut Bitters
1 Large Ice Cube
Lemon Peel (for garnish)
1. Place the large ice cube in a rocks glass
2. Add the vodka, syrup, and bitters
3. Stir with a bar spoon (or metal straw) until the sides of the glass are cold
4. Garnish with lemon peel. Don’t forget to express the peel first to add a bright fresh scent that contrasts the deep dark notes of the drink

We tend to prefer our old-fashioned-inspired cocktails on the sweeter side but feel free to play with the ratios! You can reduce the Demerara Syrup to 0.25oz instead of our suggested 0.5oz and you can have fun with the amount of bitters you use. Whatever you do, make sure to take notes!
