So, what is a Spritz?
There are many different variations of a ‘Spritz‘ or ‘Spritzer‘, and depending on who you ask, you may find yourself getting a different answer. A history buff might tell you that the Spritzer was created in the 19th century by Austrian soldiers who weren’t used to the alcohol content in Italian wines… so they added some water to make it more approachable. Slowly with time, and as popularity grew, variations of the drink started to come out of the woodwork, which eventually created the Sprizter.
However, most commonly, the answer is that a Spritzer is Sparkling Wine with club soda or sparkling water. A Spritz, on the other hand, has both sparkling wine, liqueur, and a splash of sparkling water.
The Spring Spritz combines the best of both worlds; lower alcohol than a Spritz, but just as vibrant and refreshing as a Spritzer.
